Alongside project funding, funding associations and the meinmuseum sponsorship scheme, the Museum für Naturkunde also receives financial support from various foundations, private individuals and companies for various sectors of collection and research funding as well as education programmes, exhibitions and outreach work.
The von Pawel-Rammingen Foundation is committed to supporting science and research at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. This includes the sponsoring of exhibitions and public education projects that promote the Museum's scientific research results. The purpose of the foundation is to give, in particular, financial support to the Museum, sponsoring practical scientific projects in the Museum's research areas and providing funding for science and research.
The foundation was established on October 23rd 2007, initiated by husband and wife Dr. Udo and Dr. Ingrid von Pawel-Rammingen as a foundation without legal capacity under the administration of the Humboldt-Universitäts-Gesellschaft (Humboldt University Society). The Society pursues no interests of its own, but meets its commitments using the foundation endowments unless they have been earmarked for increasing the foundation's funds. A curatorium decides on the use of foundation funding.
The Curatorium of the von Pawel-Rammingen Foundation currently includes the following members:
